Senior Instructor - Matt Kinch

Matt Kinch is a former WHL and Professional hockey defenseman of 17 years. Signed out of junior with the New York Rangers after playing 5 years with the Calgary Hitmen. When the lockout hit and stopped the NHL season he went overseas and played in the top leagues of Switzerland, Germany and Austria. Wanting to come back and give it another shot in North America Matt came back and signed with the Ottawa Senators and then the San Jose Sharks before heading back to Germany to finish off his pro hockey career.

COACHING EXPERIENCE

  • Head Coach in Springbank minor hockey association from ages U9 to U15 for 7 years. Level 1 or AAA for 6 years and Level 2 or AA for 1 year.

  • Assistant coach of Calgary Red for U15 Alberta Winter Games in 2019.

  • Defenseman guest coach with Edge Prep U15 2019-2020

  • Co -Owner and on ice coach for the Kinch Moran Hockey School for 10 years from 2008-2018 2021-2023 helped staff and run sessions for the Jr.Hitmen Hockey Spring 3vs3 program.
    2024 June to Mid September

  • Matt organized and ran Skill Development and Captain practices for the NHL Calgary Flames players, draft picks and prospects.

The Jr Hitmen 3 on 3 Skill Development Program is designed to enhance a hockey player's individual skills while providing valuable off-season training. Each session lasts 1.25 hours, starting with 30 minutes focused on individual skill development, followed by 45 minutes of engaging 3 on 3 gameplay. The reduced number of players on the ice during these games creates more space for maneuvering, which encourages players to enhance their puck control and footwork. This program not only improves essential hockey skills but also offers a fun and competitive environment, making it an ideal choice for players looking to maintain their conditioning and elevate their game during the off-season.

JR HITMEN 2025 SPRING HOCKEY is an exciting opportunity for young athletes to develop their skills and enhance their game during the spring season. The program is designed to provide players with focused training, competitive play, and valuable experience on the ice. Participants will have the chance to learn from experienced coaches, work with their teammates, and engage in challenging game situations that will help them grow as hockey players. This season promises to be filled with growth, teamwork, and memorable experiences for all involved.

The RD Hockey High Performance Hockey Program is designed to challenge elite players, providing them with the platform to train and develop in a highly competitive environment. Under the guidance of Professional Coaches, who are recognized experts with extensive coaching and playing experience, participants will refine their skills necessary for competing at the AAA/AA Level. The program emphasizes the importance of not only honing technical abilities but also fostering the mental toughness and strategic understanding required in high-stakes situations. Players can expect a rigorous training regimen that pushes them beyond their limits—preparing them not just for the ice, but for the challenges of the sport as a whole. Be prepared to be challenged!
